Plant cultivation and traits

On poor and medium locations rye is superior to other cereal species. Because of its undemanding nature and low water demand rye flourishes under modest conditions, climate and soil.

Compared to wheat, triticale and barley rye has modest requirements to the germination temperature, resumes growth very quickly in the early spring and has excellent winter hardiness.
